Arizona Mountain Camp - July 4th weekend

Annual Family Summer Camp on Mt. Lemmon

Come enjoy a weekend of family fun, spiritual growth and community building high above the summer heat. Sunrise Chapel's summer camp has something for everyone.

Arizona Mountain Camp (AMC) is a family summer camp sponsored and organized by members of Sunrise Chapel. It is held high in the Santa Catalina Mountains that overlook Tucson. We rent the Southern Pines Baptist Camp on Organization Ridge Road. At an elevation of 7,800 feet, this rustic camp is nestled among pine and oak trees on mountainous terrain. In the middle of a Tucson summer, it provides a much-appreciated respite from the heat in the valley.

Enjoy outdoor worship services, singing, crafts, archery, hikes, inspiring classes and discussions, spectacular hikes and great food. Plus, participate in Summerhaven’s 4th of July parade! The camp has facilities to accommodate 100 campers with 4 sleeping cabins, bunk beds, pit toilets, showers, chapel, outside amphitheater, dining hall, kitchen and barbecue pit area. Recreational facilities include lighted basketball and volleyball courts, frisbee golf course, children's playground, hiking trails and an outside camp fire area.

Campers must bring their own sleeping bags and pillows. A group of volunteers from Sunrise Chapel organizes the food and cooking and a wonderful program of activities for all ages.

Get out of the heat and come up the mountain to enjoy a family-oriented, community-building experience.

Dates for 2012: Camp check-in will begin at 2:30 pm on Friday, June 29 and end by 3:00 pm on Wednesday, July 4th. Contact Dawn Graffam, camp director, for details. More information will be available in the spring.
